EV Vehicles how August Surge
UK EV Sales Hit 30% Market Share Ahead of September Plate Change
Electric vehicle adoption across the UK reached a major milestone in August. New registration figures show battery electric vehicles (BEVs) accounted for almost 30% of the total new car market-up significantly year-on-year ahead of the '76' plate change.
Strong retail incentives, expanding charging infrastructure, and a wider choice of accessible models are driving this rapid transition. Drivers across Fife, Dundee, and the Lothians are increasingly making the switch away from traditional petrol and diesel engines and choosing to go electric instead.
Ford is right at the center of this electric transformation. The All-Electric Ford Explorer, Puma Gen-E, Mustang Mach-E and the All-Electric Ford Capri gives drivers long-range capability, rapid DC charging, and practical crossover styling tailored for UK roads. Combined with low Benefit-in-Kind (BIK) tax rates for business users and low daily running costs, EV ownership has never been more viable.
Whether you're commuting into Edinburgh or exploring the Scottish coast, modern Ford EVs offer the range, technology, and confidence you need.

October Home EV Charging VAT Cut
Driving an electric vehicle is set to become even more affordable. From 1 October, domestic electricity VAT drops from 5% to 0% for the remainder of the financial year, cutting the direct cost of charging an EV at home.
While home charging has always been significantly cheaper than filling up with petrol or diesel, this tax reduction further widens the gap. When paired with dedicated off-peak EV electricity tariffs, electric car owners can top up their vehicles overnight for a fraction of traditional fuel costs.
For local drivers across Scotland considering moving to an electric vehicle, this drop in running costs comes at the perfect time. Lower home energy tax means every mile driven costs less, delivering real, cumulative savings over a typical year of motoring.
Combined with zero emissions and minimal routine servicing requirements, home-charged Ford electric models offer some of the lowest total cost of ownership figures on the market today.
